History

Founded in 1932 at Hillside Farm, Gravenhurst by Frank Redman, the main part of the business was growing and supplying vegetables to local markets and shops. From around 1942 College Farm was rented, being purchased a few years later - it is now the businesses base. When Frank’s sons, Rex and Jeff left school they joined the business and it became Frank Redman and Sons.

The business has been built up over the years and now farms approx. 570 acres of mainly combinable crops although there is a small acreage of grassland and agri-environment schemes. Along side the farm the business also operates a fleet of tipper lorries for aggregate transport and are registered potato merchants, supplying potatoes to local fish and chip shops - vegetable growing ceased around 1990.

Frank Redman and Sons is now just the trading name, with business now being run by Franks grandsons, Martin, Gordon and Graham Redman.
